Braai Boutique
Most South African braai gear gets bought off a hardware shelf, somewhere between the charcoal bags and the firelighters. Braai Boutique works differently. It is a Randburg importer that sells kamados, gas braais, smokers and the wood chunks to feed them.
It makes sense when you are ready to spend real money on a braai and would rather buy from a shop that only thinks about fire and meat.
What they do
Braai Boutique says it imports, distributes and sells braai, BBQ and smoking equipment. It trades as a division of Epic Imports and Exports, with a showroom at 42 Neeron Road in Blairgowrie, Randburg, open on weekdays and Saturday mornings.
The online shop covers freestanding, gas and kettle braais, smokers, Kimstone kamados, pizza ovens, bomas, smoke wood chunks, Himalayan salt, spice rubs, Tramontina braai cutlery, picnic baskets and a small gift range. Payflex is offered if you want to split the cost.
For deal hunting, Braai Boutique sits in Outdoor & Camping on The Real Deal.
What to look at first
Kamado Braais
The Kimstone kamado comes in Junior Chef, Sous Chef and Executive Chef sizes, plus a rotisserie add-on. A kamado holds heat for a long time, so it suits slow cooks and smoking as well as a normal braai.
Best for: people who want one cooker for grilling, smoking and baking.
Gas Braais
Gas braai stands run from the two-burner Inferno up to the larger Apex models. You give up the wood-fire ritual and get quick lighting and easy heat control.
Best for: weeknight braais and small patios.
Smokers and Kettle Braais
Coalsmith grill and smoker units sit next to Ember kettle braai stands in two sizes. The kettles are the cheaper way in.
Best for: first-time smokers and charcoal regulars.
Pizza Ovens
The Kimstone Pizza Chef oven and pizza stones with stands. Worth a look if your braai area keeps turning into a pizza night.
Best for: families who entertain outdoors.
Smoke Wood, Salts and Rubs
Wood chunks for smoking, Himalayan salt braai stones and spice rubs in medium and XL sizes. These are the cheap repeat buys once the big kit is sorted.
Best for: topping up a kit you already own.
Simple way to think about it
If you already have a braai and want to try smoking, start with wood chunks and a kettle. That is a low-cost test before you commit to a kamado.
If you are replacing the main braai, decide on fuel first. Gas is about convenience. A kamado is about range and patience. A freestanding charcoal unit is the middle ground.
Big items here run into five figures, so a discount matters. Look at current Braai Boutique deals on The Real Deal before you pick a model.
What makes Braai Boutique different
Focus is the main difference. A hardware chain sells braais as one aisle among many. Braai Boutique sells little else, and as an importer it carries specialist lines such as Kimstone kamados and Coalsmith smokers, rather than whatever a general store happens to stock.
The physical showroom helps too. You can see a kamado before you pay for one, which matters for something this heavy. The catch is the returns policy, covered below.
The practical bit
Shipping: The site does not publish delivery fees or a free-delivery threshold, so the cost shows at checkout.
Delivery: The trading terms call quoted delivery times estimates. Ask before you order if you need a braai for a set date.
Returns: 21 days for unused items in original packaging, but approved returns get store credit, not cash, and you pay the return courier. Report damage within 7 days.
Support: Help is available through braaiboutique.co.za, the WhatsApp line and the Randburg showroom.
Who it’s for
This is for you if:
- You are buying a kamado, smoker or gas braai and want a specialist
- You live near Randburg and want to see the braai first
- You smoke meat and need wood chunks and rubs in one order
- You want a braai gift that is a step up from tongs
Probably not for you if:
- You want a basic charcoal braai at the lowest price
- You need the option of a cash refund if you change your mind
- You want delivery costs spelled out before you start shopping
Final word
Braai Boutique is a sensible stop for serious braai kit, especially kamados and smokers, and the showroom makes a big purchase less of a gamble. Go in sure of what you want, because change-of-mind returns come back as store credit.
Prices on the larger units move, so compare live Braai Boutique deals on The Real Deal before you pay.
